Barbara is a relative newcomer to Batik; she
studied sculpture and ceramics at Art College over 30 years ago
and went on to gain a post graduate diploma in Art Therapy.
Since discovering the joy of working with wax
and dyes, Barbara has used the process almost continually. She
makes wall hangings, silk scarves and batik bowls. Barbara takes
her inspiration from her garden and the nearby sea shore.
The bowls are made from many different types
of paper including tissue paper and recycled scrap paper and
sometimes have natural objects such as stalks and leaves incorporated
into them. They vary in thickness from 2cms to paper-thin, with
some bowls having a lacy effect, but despite their delicacy they
remain functional.
Barbara has a studio in beautiful rural Lincolnshire
where she holds batik classes and workshops.
