I have developed a unique style of textile art,
which bursts out of the frame with life and vitality. The techniques
I use to achieve this include fabric dyeing, batik, hand and machine
embroidery, hand made felt and applied pieces. The many layers
are what makes my textile art so distinctive and draws the viewer
into the scenes.
Admirers and collectors of my art work can be found around the
world, from Russia to the USA.
I have exhibited nationally with many solo shows
around Great Britain. My solo exhibitions include Barbican Library,
City of
London; Gallerie Not, London NW6; Foyles, London W1; Upfront Gallery,
Cumbria; Institute of Physics, London W1; Visa International London
W1; Raybel Barge, St. Katherine's Dock. I have also exhibited with
many art and textile groups.
I also exhibit with groups at venues such as the Mall Gallery,
London and the Menier Gallery London SW1.
My book, The Art of Embroidered Flowers,
commissioned and published by Search Press Ltd shows many of the
techniques and methods I
use. This is selling well in the UK and abroad, having been translated
into Norwegian and Russian.
I have also been featured in many magazines including
Wildlife Art (USA), Workbox, Needlecraft, Stitch with the E.G.
magazine, Classic Stitches, Handarbejds-bladet (Denmark), Quilting
Arts (USA), Patchwork Professional (Germany) Stitch n Craft (Netherlands),
Stitch N Bear (South Africa) giving workshops, producing projects
and articles for many of them.
I was Artist in Residence at the Missenden Abbey’s summer
school 2006. I will be teaching Abbey again during the Summer
I hope that the excitement and pleasure I get from
producing my unusual and joyous art shows through, and that my
work gives as
much pleasure to the viewer.
