Jill Kennedy has over 25 years experience as a textile artist.
She trained at Bristol and at Illinois University, US, in Art and
Design. Jill taught Art and Textiles until she became a freelance
artist specialising in Batik and Silk Painting.
Jill's freelance work has included a variety
of exhibitions in the UK, Belgium and the US. She has featured
in the textile
area at Art in Action, Waterperry, Oxon for three years. She
has lectured at many large shows including Olympia and Alexandra
Palace. In 1999 she juried the Art show at the International
Guild of Silk Painters in Washington DC. She is a member
of the Guild of Silk Painters.
Jill is the author of five silk and fabric painting books, two
of which have been supported by the production of videos. Whilst
three of her books went into reprint and the publishing rights
sold to the US, she published the fifth book herself. She has
also produced Kits for beginners in Silk Painting and Batik.
Jill has written many articles for magazines such as The Artist,
Popular Crafts and Simply Crafts.
Jill runs courses in batik and the use of wax in silk painting.
She also creates ranges of hand painted silks, including sarongs,
scarves, shawls, fabric lengths, banners, wall hangings, pictures
and cards. Her design themes are mostly based on natural forms
and she specialises in resist techniques. |
